Making dinner is a lot like doing laundry; there’s no getting out of it, and it’s not going away any time soon. But without dinner and laundry, what would we moms have to complain about on the playground or around the water cooler?
Have you ever thought about how easy dinner would be if someone mapped it out for you? I’ve said it and heard it said time and again, “If someone would just TELL me what to cook it would be so much easier!”
If your family is anything like mine, and you’ve asked for their input into the family menu, you know you’d be better of asking the walls. If it were up to my husband, we’d live on a steady diet of pizza, tacos, and burgers! It’s no wonder women live longer than men. My kids are no better, as they’d be perfectly happy eating pancakes every night. So while they are the first to complain, they are the last to offer suggestions, let alone healthy and balanced ones.
Planning your meals in advance by the week is the one of the greatest gifts you can give yourself. Menufortheweek.com is your perfect sidekick, and helps eliminate the dinner ruts we all find ourselves in by offering a wide variety of delicious, easy-to-prepare recipes for an entire week.
So here’s my first little food style tip mommies that will make a big difference:
When cooking a meal, remember this phrase; ‘where there’s salt, there’s garlic powder and onion powder.’ These spices create a golden trio that should go in all your savory dishes (and you can use less salt for flavoring your dishes when you combine it with the garlic and onion powder). By the same token, the golden trio for all your sweet recipes is cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla. If you follow these very simple combinations, you can’t go wrong.
I look forward to sharing more of my quick-tips and helping Stylemoms create memorable meals, while making some of the hassle disappear.
If anyone has tips for making laundry disappear, please email me quick! 😉
