Fashion’s Night Out Spotlight: Rachel Roy Pop-Up Store

The night before the inaugural Fashion’s Night Out, I had a chance to check out the RACHEL Rachel Roy collection at the Pop-Up Store in Soho. An eclectic mix of glam, classic, fun, and funky, there were tons of great pieces to add to your fall wardrobe:

2 of my favorite pieces: The Limited edition silver wrap front jumpsuit ($129)& a “the dress for all women” the scoop neck folded front black dress ($89) Whether you’re tall, short, curvy, pear, or diamond shape , every single last person that tried on this dress loved it and so did I.

I tried on the jumpsuit and it was unbelievably comfortable and so chic! My fellow fashionista, Kristin Booker of Fashion.Style.Beauty, tried on the scoop neck dress so we had to strike a pose of course!

Valentino The Last Emporer DVD Release

In my mad mad mommy world and crazy schedule, I was unable to get to a theater to check out Valentino The Last Emporer. Unfortunately, Transformers, Up, G.I. Joe, and other action packed and animated movies took precedence with my boys this past spring and summer. But how excited am I as Valentino’s acclaimed documentary is being released on DVD September 8th! Ahhh the dresses and handbags from this legendary designer make me absolutely swoooon!

Stylin' and Profilin' at Blogher 09

I definitely made a few memories with my first trip to the Blogher Conference in Chicago. From chatting with Tim Gunn, hanging with hottie rockstars, being caught in compromising positions, to pontificating about blackmail and swaghags, it was fantabulous meeting new folks and getting to see many of my twitter/blogger pals in living color. Many of my fellow bloganistas and Blogher buddies were definitely stylin’ and profilin’ at this years Blogher conference from head to toe:

Katja Presnal - Blogher 2009(Katja of Skimbaco Lifestyle sexy & sassy in black satin dress ensemble complete with satin peep-toe heels by Coach. She was totally working the rockstar glam in her “Vivienne Westwood-esque” style.)

Nichelle of Stylemom & Audrey of Momgenerations(Stylemoms sqaured at the Hanes event – Nichelle and Audrey McClellan showing off her summers style in a strapless printed dress) This shirt sat in my closet all summer because I didn’t have the right undergarment until Bristols6 Nippies Natural saved the day! I highly recommend them, comfy and lasted all day! ;)

Janice of 5 minutes for mom (5 minutes with Susan was just enough time to snap a pic of her sporting her “first lady” look in this fabulous cocktail dress with embellished belt and fitted trumpet sleeves)

Victorias Shoes(Victoria showed off her moxie in these haute shoes: Laci woven peep-toe pumps in silver by Banana Republic)

STYLEMOM and Tim Gunn(Makin’ it work! With the fabulous Tim Gunn of Project Runway and Tide Total Care. In spite of feeling disheveled from running around from event to event, Tim said my outfit was very well put together and told me to keep up the good work – I gushed inside for like 3 hours…lol ;) )

Me_Renee_Victoria_BowlHER(Renee, Nichelle and Victoria at BowlHer – Now it wouldn’t be a party without a pose on the red carpet and a pink boa around your neck!)

Me_VictoriaBLOGHER09(Late night ice cream cakes and cocktails in the Baskin Robbins suite brought out the smiles at the end of the conference)

Check out more stylish pics of all the festivities:

What’s next for the blog ciricut? I’ll be having a Blogalicious good time in October for the 1st annual Blogalicious Weekend. If you’re a fellow blogger, I hope many of you can make it to Atlanta for the conference!

Could this be the End of an Era?: Vogue's Anna Wintour

Hype is building and the rumor mill is swirling around Vogue Magazine’s (America) future. Many questions and speculations about the destiny of this fashion media powerhouse have sparked a frenzy to say the least.

So now inquiring minds want to know: What prompted Editor-in-Chief, Anna Wintour, to make a rare public interview appearance in NYC two nights ago? What was the PR motivation behind the 60 Minutes interview and the much anticipated documentary about Ms. Editor-In-Chief? Why did Conde Nast Chairman, billionaire S.I. Newhouse, come out of seclusion, and what is he doing in Europe? Will there be big changes coming to Vogue and the fashion industry as a whole?

The winds of change began to blow through with the growing power of online/social media, a force that the fashion industry is slowly realizing it must reckon with due to the rapidly growing influence it has on trends and consumers. But many of the ‘heavy hitters’  in the industry are still reluctant to dive deeper into digital relations. This of course can be attributed to the age gap between the decision makers and the largely tech-savvy consumer base. (I say let Gen X take over, we may be out numbered but we are the keepers of cool ;) ) Mr. fantabulous fashion himself, Andre Leon Talley, was dragged “kicking and screaming” into the blogosphere according to Ms. Wintour. Now, Mr. Talley “digs” blogging on Talley Ho! and I’m personally greatful for his insightful and intelligent musings and inspirations.

AndreLeonTalley(photo from wikipedia)

As the changing winds picked up speed in the digital world, a big gust blew by with the announcement of the move of Mercedes-Benz NY Fashion Week from Bryant Park to Lincoln Center. From Jonathan Tisch’s interview on NY Mag’s The Cut blog:

How is New York for fashion shows now?
There’s a sense that we have too many shows right now. Bryant Park had run its course. They didn’t want us anymore. The space was proving way too small. A move to Lincoln Center is going to be very energizing for the fashion community.

(Read entire interview/recap)

What’s on the Horizon for Vogue and Anna Wintour? It’s certain that Vogue.com will soon exist soley on it’s own away from Style.com. Some speculate a changing of the guard is necessary and when I hear Vogue France’s Editor-in Chief, Carine Roitfeld’s, name being thrown around, I have flashbacks of The Devil Wears Prada!

Check out preview of 60 Minutes with Anna Wintour as she compares her magazine to a “glamorous girlfriend.” Morley Safer reports on the fashion icon. (CBSNews.com)

[vodpod id=ExternalVideo.823921&w=425&h=350&fv=%26rel%3D0%26border%3D0%26]

And the saga continues…stay tuned!
