Fashion For A Good Cause: Hero in Heels

HeroinHeelLogo Fashion For A Good Cause: Hero in HeelsOn June 10th, the Wish Upon a Hero Foundation, an online nonprofit that grants requests to people in need, held its 1st Hero in Heels fashion show and celebrity shoe auction at the Trust Building in Philadelphia. Founded by my former colleague Dave Girgenti, Wish Upon A Hero Foundation created the Hero in Heels program which benefits women affected by cancer and other  life-altering diseases.

Hero in Heels collected signed celebrity donated shoes and then auctioned them off online and at the live event. The money raised from the auction grants the wishes of women who are suffering with cancer, including the purchase of wigs, prosthesis, as well as helping with their basic necessities. Over 20 pairs of designer shoes were auctioned off last week during the Hero in Heels charity auction that raised more than $9,600 for women battling cancer. Most shoes went for $200 on the auction, with the exception of Jennifer Anniston’s Jimmys which were auctioned for $800. Other notable celebs donating signed shoes were Jessica Biehl, Taylor Swift, Estelle, Scarlott Johansson, and Ali Larter.

Wish Upon a Hero’s Dave Girgenti tells the Philadelphia Inquire:
“I wanted to put together a fund-raiser for women using something they were very passionate about…and we know that women are passionate about shoes.”

The runway show featured collections by local Philly designer brands Walish Gooshe, SAVA, and Carmelita Couture.

Many of Philly’s “phinest” came out to support and I even had a chance to chat face to face with the man I wake up with every morning, Fox 29 Good Day anchor, Mike Jerrick.

Jimmy Choo Fashion Frenzy Builds Up For H&M Launch

Earlier this past summer, we announced the Jimmy Choo collaboration with H&M. During the hustle and bustle of New York Fashion Week, photos of the new line began to leak across the web, much to H&M’s dismay. We felt it was pretty futile to stop a fashion frenzy that’s been building up since early this past summer, but finally, at the end of September, H&M finally gave the okay to release the photos.

So without further adieu, I give you some of our favorite looks from the new Jimmy Choo for H&M line:

Luxe Shoe Find at Marshalls

On a recent visit to Marshalls, I came across the cutest pewter strappy sandals by Coach for only $69!! They normally retail for $189. If I didn’t have other things to buy, and if I also didn’t just recently buy a pair of pewter strappy sandals, these would have went home with me:

Coach Shoes at Marshalls - STYLEMOM

Ugh! Why didn’t I find these first a month ago when I needed pewter sandals??!! These are super comfortable and the straps are a very giving leather around your toes.

On your next shopping trip, see what other luxe treasures can be found at your local Marshalls Store, and please let us fashionistas know. It’s like a box of chocolates! ;)

Meet Kenneth Cole as he Joins the Rebel Heel Movement

Could it be? Could it really be that designers may actually migrate out of the mile high club for shoes and actually promote comfortable footwear for women? I wouldn’t count on a mass exodus from sky high heels, but the 925 collection from Kenneth Cole, is on the forefront of the “movement to support movement“. The 411 from Kenneth Cole:

Over the last 4 years, we’ve been trying to answer this question: WHY CAN’T A FASHION SHOE FEEL AS GOOD AS IT LOOKS?  We’re pleased to announce that we’ve solved that long-standing problem with our exclusive 925 TECHNOLOGY…..

This means that women will no longer need two different pairs of shoes to address the need for comfortable “wear to commute” styles in addition to “wear at the office” heels. Plus, women can wear them from day into night, without needing that “shoe stash” at work. It’s truly our movement to support movement and, in turn, our effort to save the soles of shoe lovers across the world.

If you’re looking for an extra stylish morning, go check out the 925 Collection and meet Kenneth Cole in person!

WHERE: Rockefeller Center Store, NYC
WHEN: Friday, August 7th from 9-10 a.m.

Kenneth Cole925 Launch Event

Well I must admit, I’m not totally giving up my platform heel fetish anytime soon, but I will make sure my shoe repertoire has a balance of flats, low and high heel options…as well as keeping a pair flip-flops/flats in my bag when the dogs start barking! ;)

So Fashionistas, support the rebel heel movement – grab some java and have a fashionable morning with Kenneth Cole on Aug. 7th.

Shoe Fetish: I ♥♥♥ Giuseppe Zanotti

GZanottiOn my quest for balance between high heels, low heels, and flat styles, I am now coveting at least 8-10 pair of Giueseppe Zanotti heels. I don’t know if this latest obsession is as equal to or possibly even more-so than my dreams of Louboutin’s. What I do know is this: I’m a sucker for black, white and red color combinations, and if you combine that with my love for animal prints, I’m in shoetopia! ;) There were so many fantabulous shoes in the Giuseppe Zanotti Design Spring/Summer 09 Collection:

Shoe Fetish: Giueseppe Zanotti

It’s no surprise that many of the hollywood starlets, music divas, and celeb stylemoms including: Beyonce, Kate Hudson, Alicia Keys, Heidi Klum, Drew Barrymore, Halle Berry, and Anne Hathaway – all are frequently seen in a pair of Giueseppe Zanotti shoes. So what does this creative designer have in store for the Fall/Winter 2009-10 collection? A chic collage of zippers, black leather, chain links and full on rockstar glam! Loving it! Check out a preview here:

Some shoes in the fall/winter 09′ collection are already up for sale at Net-a-Porter and Saks Fifth Avenue.
