Ok so being little girls of the 70’s and growing up in the 80’s, you either had the Barbie’s with the pink corvette, or Barbie, Ken & Skipper with the Malibu house, Barbie with the curly hair you could straighten…you get my point. Barbie is an iconic toy with a long history and symbolizes classic “Americana” for most women of all backgrounds.

To celebrate this style and fashion icon, Mattel is planning to “partay” with pink carpet events around the globe for an entire year!

Getting the party started with a show during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week this February in NYC, the kick off continues with the March 9th beach party at none other than the infamous Barbie Malibu Dream house designed by interior designer, Jonathan Adler. Adler will also be capitolizing from the golden girl’s birthday with the limited edition “Jonathan Adler Loves Barbie” collection that will be available online and in-store.

Other partners include Bloomingdale’s, Stila Cosmetics, and Dylan’s Candy Bar in NY

Over in the east side of the globe, Ms. Barbie will get an eight-story retail complex shrine in Shanghai, complete with flagship store, spa, restaurant and a runway for girls.

My first thought: “Why isn’t the U.S. getting one of these???!!! 😉 This is an advertising/marketing/pr gal’s dream account project (but I’m sure the stress is high planning all this).

I only have  boys, but I would gladly take my niece just so I could go!!!
